i will be curious to get your impressions on the driver support, this is relatively new tech & NV weak driver support (in general) worries me.
on the "most powerful" comment, i am also considering the Acer 521 (Neo K125/Ati 4225). according to Engadget benchmarks it scores slightly higher than the 1015PN plus you dont have to worry about special drivers. also, it gets almost identical battery life (when ION is on). the only real advantage i see with the 1015PN is Optimus, but only if it works properly.
Im on my way to buy one of these myself, and I want to upgrade the machine with 2GB of RAM as well (my country dosent offer the upgraded version of the netbook yet). I have searched the net for a good solution, but cant really find anything definitive (loads of ram blocks out there that arent working with the 1015pn apparently). So my question is: what RAM block are you going to use?
JKK, my 1015PN is on the way (Should be getting it two days from now). I was just doing some research on replacing the HDD with an SSD and came across some images on Flickr that should help and I figured I would send the link your way in case you needed them (it looks very easy to gain access to the good stuff inside as well! I figured there would be some difficulty). Once again, another great review!
I heard you say on the podcast that a 63 whr battery is an option. Here's one I found on eBay. Do you think it's compatible? If not, do you know one that is? http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-ASUS-90-XB0NOABT00000Q-Notebook-Battery-5600-mAh-/380286408810?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item588ad6186a
Asus Tech Support told me a 63 whr battery will burn out the motherboard. Do you think that's true?
I just broke the screen on my 1015pn and am pissed to no end. I'm looking forward to seeing how you replace the screen on this netbook. I've not done anything like this before.
Hi, first I'd like to thank you for a great site. I've had tons of help following your instructions while doing some minor mods of my own.
I just bought a 1015PN for my daughter and I'm wondering if you've have had the time to mod yours? I'm mainly interested in installing a 3G modem so she could use the PC at our summer house. Thanks once more and keep up the good work.

Pixel qi, 2 gb ram, win 7 prof., 3 g inside and i hope a ssd too, will make the perfect netbook.

Hmmm what about a SSD? Would be nice for a mobile unit like a netbook.
Nice that 1015PN got matte screen.
But the processor and GPU are worse then in 1215N

I got the crucial 2gb and it works great
Amazon Germany offers the enhanced version with Windows 7 HP (so Optimus works properly) and 2GB RAM. A pity that Amazon UK doesn't offer the same.

Pixel Qi uses a 40 pin LVDS connector. Asus uses 30 pin on all its laptops. Pin outs are required to see if this is possible.
JKKMobile,
I have recently purchased the Asus 1015PN and have upgraded to Windows 7 Professional x64.
I am now unable to use my FN+F9-12 or the SuperHybrid Engine FN Toggle.
Graphics - I have not been able to find a x64 driver for the Intel 3150 or the NVIDIA ION. Only the x32 or x86 drivers.
Please help. Thanks!
very nice video. but the "more coming soon .." is there for quite some time now, yet no more has come so far.
