Google has launched My Location for Google Maps for normal PCs..

Yep, and it works pretty nicely without GPS too!

I dont have the blue Dot too, ff 3.5, IE 8 or Chrome. Dont know why.

I’m also not working.. I think this only work some country only.
It seems the technology implements IP trace route, and using ranges of IP address.
Of course Google Maps need to know ranges of IP address each country and specifically ISP IP address. Now these day we able to know what country of the IP but to specifically IP address belong to users (Especially static more easy, Dynamic more difficult to trace) and need have special collaborated with ISP on that country it self.

quick guess is that if the location info is not specific enough, it will just zoom in on the "general" area, and provide no spot or similar...

To it seems that one need google gears installed to make use of gps data in this, as firefox seems to only support google latitude so far...

To work without GPS, it uses the IP address of your computer to find out which ISP owns those IP addresses, and then assigns location based on the location that assigns you your IP address.

It works for me in FF 3.5 however it was 2,783 miles (4,478 KM) off.

On my Eee 901 it pinpointed my position exactly to the spot! But on my regular pc, it ended up on another continent..

Google Earth have realtime GPS feature !
but didnt work with s5's GPS .
