thanks for the answers. so a 1280 x 1024 is the highest rez external monitor you have?! lol, i guess your not a big fan of docking. i'm actually surprised Silverthorne platform can go up that high, all the rumors ive heard indicated 1366 x 768. who knows, maybe it can go even higher (hopefully at least 1680 x 1050).
a coat in April, do you live at the North Pole with Santa?
Heh... yes, near north pole in Finland.
..and yes, i'm not fan of docking.
I'll get to test it on higher resolution tomorrow hopefully.. will update the info here.
thanks for that professional video
i thin onscreen keyboard is always a bit tricky, but for mobile use i think its ok so far.
Nice Shades JKK..!!
Nice video, JKK. Maybe I missed it earlier, but how big battery life of M1 is?
JKK is the real life James Bond!!!
Kola, I'm getting 4.5 hours on wifi surfing on 1.1ghz umid.. closing the screen time to tome extends in to even more... review is up soon..
Great video! I've ordered the S5 from Dynamism and am patiently awaiting it to arrive and then ship :)
Thanks for the great work in covering the UMPC/MID market, keep it up!
Wait so youtube doesnt play good when its hooked up to a monitor but does it run good just on the s5 itself without being hooked up to a monitor?
Normal quality plays fine on both. Some high q plays fine on window but not on full screen.
Hi JKK.
If you are in Finland how did you get your S5? I am in Portugal and would like to get one also.
Cheers
Alex
It was sent to me from Viliv directly for testing...
JKK
does the kit (from Dynamism) include any sort of microphone, as the S5 doesn't have one included
no microphone.. you need to use bt or usb headset
Hello JKK,
do you know this APP:
http://portableapps.com/apps/accessibility/on-screen_keyboard_portable
It might be a good thing to have on the S5, but I can't try it since Viliv strangely doesen't send things to me for testing... ;-)
Greetings from Germany, FraJo
JKK, would the S5 be able to drive an 1920x1200 external display? Thanks in advance!
JP, that might be a bit too much.. I will test asap.. i might get access to some big screen later today.
:-P
You could also try some HDTV, they ran up to 1920x1080!
Thanks anyway for any feedback you'll provide!
Hello, I have been finding it difficult to find information about the keyboard "modes." I read that there is a QWERTY mode and a numeric/symbol mode. In the numeric mode is there a "." ?
JKK: You mentioned that you had 3G in yours. I ordered one from Dynamism and I don't remember seeing anything wrt 3g. Any thoughts on it being a retrofit-able item ala the EU850D?
Thanks!
JKK
Got the non 3G one from ebay but I couldn't find the 3G version. Yours got 3G right ?
Can you show us how to add 3G module plz .. I think someone has done in but no much details. It seams you need to solder the 3G socket and change the hard disk to SSD.
I got this 3G version from Viliv, it is not available yet.
I will show how to put 3G on HDD version soon.
JKK, Thanks for all the great information. I have a basic question as I am looking at the S5 as both a backup for trip photos and a way to access e-mails on occasion. Is there anyway to use this with a network drive? I'm wondering what's the best way to get my photographs off the device once I return home.
JKK,
Thanks for your help! Were you able to find out what is the max resolution on the external VGA connector for the Viliv S5? Will I be able to run 1920x1080 (or even 1920x1200) when I receive it later this week?
Hello,
My Viliv S5 was able to drive a 1680x1050 monitor at that resolution...
Thanks for the Reviews JKK! Excellent work. I have an S5 on order at the moment - have you tried outlook and ms office on the S5? That would be my preferred daily use and I'd love to see how it looks and works, or at least have your opinion.
Hope you can help!
