It's official: Aigo will start selling their MID with XP

So all drivers should work fine on current versions but the new XP version has 2 x more storage... it's 8GB but on 2 drives, 4GB + 4GB

They didn't give the pricing out yet, but there will be 2 versions: 3G and non 3G..

Available in one month.

I do love the design of it but the price will be way too much. Now if someone brought out a similar device for under 300 euros it would sell like the classic hot cakes.

I agree with Britman. In fact, I've been waiting for the original to drop below 300 Euros (with a spare battery). And before people think I'm being crazy, I'll still have to pay 40% import duty and VAT on top of that.

JKK, did you show any of the aigo reps your Uber-Compal?

Hey! I bet they saw your AIDO mod and decided to make one of their own :D
So what about the performance? It is probably running XPe, I suppose. Is it equipped with EWF like your device? I guess so, since they certainly will want to protect the sensitive SSDs.

They talked about better battery life, but did they give any idea how they will achieve this? Larger battery? Better power managment? Better drivers?
I wonder....if its power management or driver support it could really help the P8880.

Thank-you Aigo, this is great news!

I think this is more significant that it seems. I bet companies would like to see any sub 5-inch device supporting Windows in the £600-£900 range. And realistically not letting the future market slip below the £500 mark. Let's call this category the 'pro-MID'

The Aigo and Lluon and Umid offerings change the game, now asus, sony, fujitsu and oqo will probably have to produce budget pro-mids to compete. I really don't mind the low spec as long as we have windows and a decent price-point. Now many people can use serious apps on-the-go, without breaking the bank.

Any idea where i can get in one month's time? I just can't wait to get my hands on one!

hi, I have the Aigo P8860 with the hopes I could get away from Windows. I was hoping someone out there would get all the features working with Linux Fedora or Ubuntu.

I have searched, but I don't see alot of information from Ubuntu or Fedora. The different Linux distros have terrible update information.

search "midi wiki" for ubuntu.

Are they going to configure it with 1GB or RAM or will it still be 512MB? Being the the RAM is soldered onto the motherboard this is the main difference in my opinion. You can always stuff a high capacity USB drive into the case if you need more storage, but the RAM you're stuck with as configured.

I got my hands on an AIGO 8888 proto type. Are there XP drivers and plugs and cables available for it?
