Hmmm...
It looks like Wibrain will make it real..
Last time we heard it was just a concept prototype, but now Aving is reporting that it will go to production.
Specs are OK-ish, but that membrane keyboard might not be that good.. device it self could be a bit smaller too..
4.8-inch 1,024*600 touchscreen
1.33GHz Atom Z520
512MB/1GB of RAM
8GB/16GB SSD
WiFi/HSDPA/Bluetooth
touchpad
Linux or Windows XP OS.
It might stay as Korea only product but you never know..
Thanks Aving

Touching Windows 7
Windows 7 team is showing some multitouch features..
" With Windows 7 we have enriched the Windows experience with touch, making touch a first-class way to interact with your PC alongside the mouse and keyboard. We focused on common activities and refined them thoughtfully with touch in mind. You will have the freedom of direct interaction, like being able to reach out and slowly scroll a web page then flick quickly to move through it. With new touch optimized applications from creative software developers you will be able to immerse yourself as you explore you photos, browse the globe, or go after bad guys in your favorite games. "
Looking good! Now gimme some multitouch panels!! ... or multitouch UMPC

Aigo MID XP drivers available
Finally!
Yep, wifi and chipset too..
No screen brightness software... maybe some key combo adjusts it.
Starting testing now... More soon...
UPDATE:
Hmm.. " Please note: the drivers compatible only with the new model, as Agio has made some hardware modifications on the device. "
Aigo said the only difference would be SSD size on new version.... testing.. testing..
UPDATE 2: looking bad... BIOS works.. wifi doesn't seem to... testing more
UPDATE 3: I just talked with Mobilx: Wifi drivers will not work on current models and it looks like old versions will never get wifi XP drivers.. I should get info about the brightness software tomorrow..
These drivers work only on new model shipping in late April

UMID M1 first impressions from MID Moves
As Steve is back from MID Moves tour at SXSW, it's time for UMID M1 MBook first impressions.
I must agree most of his thoughts about it, but I have to say I just can't like the curved design... or build quality.. or white color .. or white keyboard on black housing...
Hmm... building new cooler looking housing for it would be a good/fun hack..

UMID M1 UMPC dissected

It looks like UMID is not using PCI-E 3G modem but either Siemens or some other modem with btob connector... so 3G upgrade is not that easy...
If power and USB lines are found on bigger pads, you could always solder a modem like I did here.
RAM and SSD soldered ...
Overall the internal design looks better than external.. Happy hacking Joe!
Thanks UMPCFever!

First fully working Pandora on video
" Here is a quick and much requested video of the white Pandora which was built a few days ago. It is the first fully working, portable, near final unit. Still some things to tweak up which we are not happy with, but we are almost there now.
You can see use of the keyboard, the nubs, the dpad, the action buttons, the LEDs and the touchscreen.
I should point out the final Pandora will be black - this is white so that we can see any stress points on the case (and fix them).
The game is Quake@800*480 via the SGX (solid 60FPS with dynamic lighting), the OS is Linux (Angstrom). We will do a video with Quake3 soon. "
Great to see it working!
I would really like to see how good it will be for web surfing too...

Meet Samsung N310 netbook with 11 hour battery
Updated with pricing and press release.

Hmm... that design indicates a semi rugged netbook. Screen frame is huge..
Typical specs with Atom and 10 inch screen. 5 hours with standard and 11 hours with extended battery sounds good.
UPDATE: 499 euros and yes, it is semi rugged: Press release at NetbookNews

Samsung N110 netbook revealed and reviewed
Not changed too much from NC10 but all the changes seems to be for better..
It now has higher capacity 5900mAh battery
Bigger touch pad
More rounded edges..
But still no easy access to HDD... and glossy screen might not be that nice..
LAPTOP's verdict: " Samsung has created a near-perfect netbook in its N110.... "

So.. on the HDD version, there is no room for 3G modem...
RAM is soldered like on all new UMPCs..
By soldering the pci-e connector and swapping HDD to mini zif SSD you could add 3G pci-e modem.
I'm getting mine in few days so stay put to see how to upgrade to 3G... Or maybe I'm getting the 3G SSD version...
