Thanks jkk

Still no chipset and vga? These must be provided by Intel and somehow I think Intel will never do.

No, I'm not buying an Aigo until all the drivers available.

JKK are these drivers working? I installed them on my aigo and they are not working...? Can you give a step by step? The bios won't load for my installed xp either, I keep getting an error...

JKK said...

you have to make a bootable dos usb drive to run the flash software..

but please think before you do.. this is beta.. flashing bios can go wrong..

..and i dont know if linux works after that..

use "hp usb disk storage format tool" to make dos usb stick...

Aigo Midinux still boots after flash for me

JKK said...

thanks SG..

i haven't tested yet...

Can't seem to boot into Vista install CD anymore though :(
Boots into XP install with standard BSOD :)

Trying to figure out how to format partitians now

ok, steer clear of this bios if you plan on going back to XP. once it's installed, aigo restore doesn't work. Does anyone know if there is an origional BIOS floating around?

Anonymous said...

I meant going back to Midinux :)

sg:
what is wrong with Midinux recovery after having flashed the BIOS?
Isn't it able to boot, or does it start and stay stuck at 99% as it occurred previously?

I don't think that the issue is caused by the new BIOS, because you wrote that Midinux was still booting after having flashed the BIOS.
It may be related with the way the first partition of the Aigo has been formatted during the installation of XP. In that case there is one way to get out of the issue: launch again the XP installation, erase the existing partitions, and create new partitions as FAT32. Then stop the XP installation process, and retry the Midinux recovery.

This is a quick way to flash the Aigo
Download Boot98c.EXE http://www.csupomona.edu/~pbsiegel/www/booting/boot98c.exeand the HPflash utilkity the 7MB file not the 45Mb file http://www.bootdisk.com/plan40/hpflash1.zip
and you will need to extract the contents of the Boot98c.EXE file using Winimage http://europa.winimage.com/download/winima81.exe
Copy the flash file to the C drive, once the image is extracted creat the boot usb disk restart change drives to C and locate flash utility, works great.

Installed it last night... Thanks JKK for the info... Tethered with my n95 and it was fast enough... Soldered the sim card holder, but the mini pci-e connector is a pain, any tips JKK?

Finally I can touch my aigo ;) Gonna test garmin mobile pc navigator this morning see how that goes...

what type of interface do you select for touch screen usb serial or ps2

JKK said...

touch is ps2...

Anonymous said...

I am unable to boot any installation cd or usb key except for XP(which bluescreens)

Vista hangs on initial boot
gParted hangs on initial boot

So..I can't get far enough to format partitions at this point.

JKK sir, after upgrade bios , can i login bios?

JKK said...

i cant login to bios...

testing more tomorrow.. out to party now ;)

@SG go to JKK install of XP that he posted here at front of page. This will use PEbuilder to do the install. That won't give you the BSOD when trying to do it from CD. For some reason some have trouble loading XP from CD and others don't. I used the PEbuilder method back in August when I got my Aigo, and works great to load XP. At one point I had XP on C drive and XP Tablet on the D drive, but of course touch didn't work.

anyone else having keyboard issues, i cannot get the touch activated. Please someone who installed touch explain how to install, it is the PS2 selection when the driver starts, but from that point I have several HID devices in hardware profile. One is a serial one is a USB and another i cannot start with an error code 10. installing Bios was easy but the GPS and touch are a problem for me, someone post a quick how too and a video if possible after touch is working

Anonymous said...

gps driver has to be installed manually, when the prompt to install driver comes up, choose not to connect to the internet, then choose install from specific folder, gps, u center, antaris 4 usb drivers.. click ok...

All working now, gps Bluetooth touch, thanks everyone. Wish I could share the felling, youtube is so nice, no sound yet, have to locate the audio drivers that UMPCfever suggested a while ago, it works. :)

Anonymous said...

@Brook you can get the sound driver here http://support.kohjinsha.co.kr/driver/sdriver_l.php download the one below ACPI BIOS, thats the one for the audio. If you put your mouse you can see at bottom of the browser that it shows the audio driver. I installed that one on my Aigo and sound works perfect.

dear Brook
I could not make touch work in my p8860.I have choosed ps2 in install process.Could you tell me steps which your install, thank you

Unknown said...

clean install after reflashing the bios, That is the trick. Like most I installed XP and flashed the bios. You need to flash the bios and install XP after. The Aigo works, touch and GPS bluetooth all I need is power management and a way to control the screen brightness.

Anonymous said...

I have the touch driver working but cannot find a way to do right click. Do I need XP for Tablet PC's installed?

Unknown said...

Thank Brook
yes, as you said, Must flash the bios at first
then, everything is fine.
Now, only wait for new drivers, haha

we need the video!! ;)

some tests:

- with the new bios, i can still use the Midinux recovery

- i can't boot with xp cd (bsod )nor Vista dvd

- i can delete the Midinux partition with fdisk and then format it to fat32 with dos boot usb stick

- i have to use the BartPE ( see my post "How-to: Installing XP to Aigo P8860 MID" to install XP back

- i have serius problems now with Acronics.. i want to make backups but restoring them doesn't work anymore..

Has anyone used Ghost or other backup/restore utilies with new bios?

I'm also having problems installing XP or Vista on my P8860 after the bios upgrade. The OS install currently installed on the flash works quite well, my assumption is there is a problem with storage drivers during the install.

Data:

Vista or VistaPE (Windows Home Server Recovery CD), booting from CD, hangs after the "press any key to..." that comes from the boot CD

My XP SP2 boot CD gives me a blue screen (7b). My guess is that some of us are having troubles with the storage drivers.

Note that before flashing the bios I had a working system where installing an OS went smoothly.

Oh, booting BartPE (created from the same XP SP2 CD above) gives me a 7b as well.

Chris Gray said...

oh yeah, I'm asking for help in my previous post :)

if you're able to get XP (or BartPE built on XP) to install could you tell me if you're using XP SP3 (the real one or a slipstream).

Has anyone gotten Vista to install?

does anyone know if there are keys that can be pressed to get into user settings for the bios? I've seen similar 0x7b issues on PC's when the disks are SATA and the installation CD doesnt have storage drivers

Unknown said...

XP yes, Vista no.

Anonymous said...

is there someone who can explain how to disable files search which is opening each time you open the keyboard

Anonymous said...

XP install is very easy.
don't use PE.

use nlite and XPSP3.

Chris Gray said...

thanks for your help Mr. Anonymous :)

the trick for me is that

1. I couldnt not make the install work with XP or XPSP2
2. I was successful when I ran nlite to slipstream XPSP3 onto my XPSP2 disk

JKK, I have an Aigo P8888W. Will the drivers work on it? What is the procedure for bios upgrade and xp install? Also I have tried using sysresccd to backup but it runs out of disk space and I don't know how to make it write to DVD instead. Sorry for these novis questions, I know nothing about midinux.
