This is a solid upgrade, especially with the X4500 graphics. Some have complained about Vista on the P1610 and P1620, but the X4500 graphics should address all of those issues.

Will be interesting to see the battery life and price. Better chipset and CPU, and the display should use less power as well.

If I had a P1610, would definitely be worth an upgrade (well depending on price). P1620 gets a little dicey.

Wow, what a nice netbook. I'm not sure how I feel about using either the nub or screen for pointing. I'm too used to a touchpad to give it up for good. Also, I'd still want an SSD, even if it is smaller capacity.

But I hope this is the direction that netbooks go, same form factor but with more power.

Lastly, it can only ouput 1280x1024 external? That seems really low, is that the video card limitation?

Dual-mode digitizer or no sale.

PCMCIA?! No ExpressCard??

interesting......
definitely more powerful than most of the netbooks, yet similar in size
crossing fingers for 6+ hrs battery life

Reading the user manual it says the standard battery is 3 cell but there is an optional 6 cell 5200mA battery as well.

The manual also makes clear you can use your finger as well as the stylus for the touchscreen. That's important to me since there is no touch pad. Effectively this makes the whole screen a multitouch fingerpad as well, which is great.

Now roll on the price and please let availability in Hong Kong be before 29 Oct as that's the day I'll be there !

If specs as above, I see no reason to upgrade my 1610 running XP! Not enough difference for cost.
