until data prices drop here in the us i dont think this will catch on with umpc/netbook market. i think that a aircard slot like in a hp mininote will suffice for some but not all. also if it was added a a feature it would drive prices up.
why is the first laptop with 3g (one item that really makes it mobile) on a gigantic 10"?
i recall reading that there was someone selling eeepc's with a 3G dongle...
yep, TSO.
But having it inside the device is much better!
This is going to sell like crazy in some european countries where you have 95%+ 3G coverage and can get 1Mbit connections, with unlimited traffic for 15 euros a month!
Maybe something to add.
The ECS G10IL has been delayed since April and every month, they keep on saying that it will be released by the end of the month. Hope September will be the real release date for Europe.
I use my EEE PC 901 regularly for 3G Connectivity. As I have my cellphone (a Motorola v3xx which I really hate, but in this regard it's really good) with me anyway, I just use the 901's internal bluetooth to connect (you dont even need to take out the cellphone - it works automatically) to the cellphone, and use it as a 3G HSDPA modem. Of course this only works well with a good data plan (I have 1 GB per month included).
This is now on sale in the UK. Badged as the Advent 4213. £349 I am going to buy one later today.
