Aha! nice, I was just checking back to see how the buffalo was performing before ordering one..
Hi! It is possible to add a MyDigitalSSD without to lose the guarantee?
in my previous comment (the guarantee), I speak for the 900 A.
I think this is the answer I been waiting for. I'm sick of the slow 16 GB on my eee pc.
I've been told that they receive quite a large number of SSDs on August 20th and that chances are good to get one even if one has not pre-ordered one (will receive my 32GBMLC then...)
Very nice... Any chance of getting an 8GB sized smaller (primary drive) SSD for the Atom version motherboards? That way there would be enough space for pretty much any basic use and the second slot is still left free for whatever.
The 32GB 40/20 for $120 sounds sweet - I may buy one. But the faster 45/41 version for $380 is simply too expensive for an Eee...
Now we just need an option to buy a Eee without a (crappy) SSD :-)

I am think of purchasing an EEEPC 901 (XP Edition) and then upgrading the SSD storage so that I can install Vista on the new SSD rather than the internal 4GB one. Would this faster SSD work in the 901?
I'd really appreciate some advice regarding which SSD to purchase and whether it makes sense to install the OS on it in a 901.
Many thanks in advance!
Travis

Hello
Is it easy to replace the old ssd?
yes, just open the bottom RAM lid ( 2 screws ) then open 2 screws on the ssd modele and take it out...
Tnx for the fast answer. I have the Asus Eee 900 whit the slow 16gb driver. And now im wondering hom much faster this one is?MDSSD32MLC-P
Brand Name: MyDigitalSSD
MB/GB Size: 32GB
Read/Write Speed: 40/20
Do you think it will run good whit windos xp?
Is there any replacements for the internal SSD yet? As I understand the internal SSD on the 901 is NOT soldered, but it need smaller PCB card to fit, or am I wrong in these assumptions?
it is faster..16G is 30/7
I will test it with xp as soon as it's here..
Jon, yep you are right, you would need a smaller ssd and fully open your device..
Those ssds are not available.
Love my 1000H. No overpriced tiny capacity SSD.
SSD is crap right now. Foolish to pay that much money for so little space. HDD is just fine until SSD gets reasonably priced.
Does anybody know how fast the internal 4gb ssd on the 900 are? Read/Write?
read/writes for:
1000/901

901/900

4G/8G/900

has anyone ordered from this website? just wondering how fast they ship and their overall experience. more importantly, has anyone ordered the ssd and received it?
They site still says they're still either on backorder or won't be available until September. On a few of them it says more came in on 8/18, but those are still backordered.
I want to get the EEE 901, but not until I know I can actually order one of these and have it shipped in a timely manner. Until then it's more hurry up and wait.
JKK, did you get the buffalo one yet, or just waiting for these ones?
The specs on the SLC models here do look very nice. I think even getting an 8g would be well worth it for the speed.
nope, buffalo is not yet here..
Great site JKK.. Keep up the good work.
Just wonder if I buy one of the more faster SSD´s you mention (for the 900 model). How easy/hard will it be to replace it with the old?
Is there a possibility to use the old one along if I buy say 16GB. (16+16)
Thnx
I don't got nothing except the OS and software on the SSD now, so I think 8 GB will be enough.
$89 (8 GB) vs. $179 (16 GB) it's kind of a big gap. $179 is 2/3 of the price of my Eee 900, so thats a no-no.
Maybe the 32 GB 20/40 mb/s ($119). If the specs are correct it will be pretty close to the 4 GB SSD on the 900 (4 + 8/16 GB).
Can't wait for the review!
Just got my 32GB SSD for my 901 today from mydigitaldiscount, but changing the SSD is not as easy as the seller promises.
Replacing the older 8GB SSD with the new one is not the problem, but the new SSD is not recognized, neither the old 4GB OS-part. the 901 wonÄt boot anymore. Seems as both drives are now masters, and so there is a conflict.
Cheers
Do you know if anyone are making the smaller primary ssd boards? Would be interesting to double the primary (OS) drive so that space for windows is never an issue.
Hello
Please see this post:

Seems the 32 GB drives are working on a 901 without some soldering......
Sorry, I missed the word "NOT" in the post above:

Seems the 32 GB drives are NOT working on a 901 without some soldering......
OK found a solution on eeeuser.com in the thread mentioned above. Another guy from Germany found and posted the solution (for the 32GB SSD from mydigitaldiscount.) You have to unsolder (remove) the resistor named R10 on the SSD. Tried it last night and it works fine!
Is it possible to replace the C drive with one of these 32GB SSDs? I'm constantly running out of space on the C drive of my 900 and would like to upgrade it.
Cheers: Neil.
Still no info about speed on those ssd:s?
C: drive on 900 is soldered. The primary drives are smaller than the standard SSDs anyway, so No go. Changing the 4GB with the 8GB EEE 1000 primary is another story. Trying to find out if that would work. Any input JKK??
on 900 "C" drive ( 1st drive ) is soldered.
But you could buy a bigger one for the 2nd drive, change the boot order and install OS to the second.
Yep, you could use 8GB from Eee1000 on 901
Is there any photo teaching how to replace the build in MLC D: to SLC SSD?
Jkk
Have u tried this disks whit xp?
Hi JKK,
I just found up there that in some models, some SSDs are soldered.
Could you confirm if it would be possible to replace both SSDs independently in the Asus 1000?
If so, are you planning on doing so any time soon?
Thank you, keep up the good work.
I have the S101H, there are solder pad to solder in a pci-e (the solder pad is labelled IDE 1), if I solder a socket in, will a ssd work in along side the HD, or a short will need to be done first.
