"Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Mini Netbook with coloured clip covers"

It's using the same keyboard as Eee PC 700/900 series..

Estimated size is 235 x 170 x 35

What do you think? What would it need to succeed?

Looks more like Acer Aspire One (including the trackpad button layout)...

I smell a touch screen Mod coming !!

It would need a 9 inch screen and a price point around $300 US. Doesn't need a big HD or tons of RAM, as long as it runs Linux.

for this to be a real killer it will need:

Bluetooth (vital)
3G (vital)
9" touch screen
upgradable SSD's and RAM

ohh yeah and those covers are just a gimmick and dam pointless.

PCI Express for external GPU, long battery life, or an integrated ATI shared GPU to set it apart.

I fail to see how clip on lid color will provide anything useful or groundbreaking...

The most important thing for a *MOBILE* device is battery life. If they make something that lasts as long as my phone it will beat the competition hands-down!
A reliable standby sleep-mode is very important too - leave all windows open, send it to sleep and wake it up when you need it again. If that works 100 times in a row, it could last half a week even though it was only ever turned for an accumulated 5 hours in total.
