Yes, it could. Let's check how..

1. Whole-day is 8 hours:
Asus Eee PC 901 gives me 5 to 6 hours of battery life. It has 6600mAh 6 cell battery.
If Asus would use the same cells they are using on their 4 cell 5800mAh Eee 900 battery, it would have 8700mAh on it.
It would bring the battery life to 8 hours.
2. Whole-day is 12 hours minus lunch break
If Asus would use the same cells they are using on their 4 cell 5800mAh Eee 900 battery, and add 2 more cells to 901, it would have 11600mAh on it.
It would bring the battery life to 11 hours.
It would still be smaller than Acer Aspire One with 6 cell battery
3. Whole-day is 16 hours
If Asus would use the same cells they are using on their 4 cell 5800mAh Eee 900 battery, and add 2 more cells to 901, it would have 11600mAh on it.
It would bring the battery life to 11 hours.
Then marketing team would use the same benchmarks they used for 901 to get 7.8 hours and published that it can do 16 hours.
It was quite easy, wasn't it!
..I would really like to see those highcap cells on my Eee soon... Mugen? Any others?
UPDATE: 8 cell 8800mAh battery now on eBay for $88, thanks CHS
So whole work day with 901 fully possible today :) I'd rather get a 6 cell with highcap cells thou...

JKK you rule man!
If you use it in the office plug it into the wall. If you use it in your car plug it into the cigarette lighter socket. Simple. I don't think anyone uses any computer nonstop 4 to 6 hours.
Hi JKK! need a strong help from you. Could you tell me the size of the 4gb SSD in your eeepc901? A x B x C.
I will be so gratefully...
THANKS!
Lunch break, not brake. :)
Has the battery time meter been accurate on the 901 so far? Also, when you tested Xandros, did it still measure in 10% chucks or did they improve the acpi support?
Anyway, high-capacity cells wanted here as well.
>>>I don't think anyone uses any computer nonstop 4 to 6 hours.
Hello, McFly. We're called writers. And bloggers. And programmers. And stock analysts. And secretaries.
Oh, but you meant subnotes only?
OK, then. We're called writers and bloggers.
HapiBlogging to you my friend! Have a nice day!
I feel sorry for anyone who has to "work" for 16 hours straight on a tiny sub-notebook in a place where there is no power available.
4GB ssd on 901 is sized as standard pcie card, so 50mm x 3mm x about 3mm
the cells in the eee 901 are kind of AA size battery?
is it posible to mod the eee 901 6600 battery
and put there those cells:
http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.6979
then you get 2500*6=15000/2=7500mAh battery 7.4V
i didn't found anywhere cells bigger then 2600mAh with 3.7V
8 "real" hours would be great. :)

You sir are not doing a lot of trans atlantic traveling I hear. Or even coast-to-coast traveling in the US.
"I feel sorry for anyone who has to "work" for 16 hours straight on a tiny sub-notebook in a place where there is no power available."
kudos!!!
jkk, I forget: Are you getting the Asus 1000H also?
nope... 1000h too big for me... unles i get it for testing from somewhere.
hi
im wondering if he accu from the 901 and the 1000h will fit crosswards (901accu in 1000h and 1000h-accu in 901).
my more important question is:
does these accus fit in the 900 versions?
The 901 and 1000 have the same accu, but this is a different one from the 900 versions.
You can buy a 10400mAh for the 900 on Ebay for around 35 euros. It lasts for around 8 hours.
By the way, is 901 a greater thing than 900?
Is it worthy to swap those PC's?
thanks man!
I definitely want UMPCs to last longer than they use to: http://www.hanno.de/blog/2008/the-battery-rant/
So what you are saying is that an marketing guy can ad about 30% juice to any battery.
I think the best way to travel would then be to have one marketing guy handy when you're running out of battery ;)
JKK, I have the Asus Eee 900 Black XP Version. I'm thinking to buy 901 XP Version What do you recommended me? In your opinion, what is the best machine? No matter price. What netbook do you feel better?
Did you see this one on eBay?

I just bought one :o)
Seems to be "whole day" from an ASUS marketing perspective ;)
Jkk: If you get about 5 hours working-time with the stock battery, then what would your working-time be on this battery you are talking about? Benchmark please ;)
What if they just put the atom processor on the 701?... and upgrade it to 6 cell... it'd last FOREVER!
you would get 6.6 hours if you normally get 5...
hey jkk you wont beleive my screen got cracked on my asus eee pc 900 and im now looking to get another eeepc...cant decide if 1000 is anygood and which is better linux or windows. iv heard the battery life is great on the linux but i wnat to install xp so wonder if itl make a diffrence. what do you think?
Jkk, when you say 6.6 hours, did you mean the 8800mah battery only gives that long? Or were you replying to Vinhtvu2's question?
maybe, but who the heck would want to squint on such a teeny tiny screen for 11+ hours a day?
i'd go blind in a week if i had to do that
I'm slowly going blind anyways, but having a 7" widescreen UMPC has stopped me watching porn so my eyesight will therefore improve I hope!
On a more serious note, my job involves 14 hour days in front of a 17 inch monitor, 6 days a week (thats 84 hours a week, sparing you the math). I have no savings; all money goes on fuel to work (car required+I live in UK) apartment rent and food.
My day off with my EEE 701 is luxury in comparison.
Your mileage, and economic conditions, may vary somewhat.
