Great find, jkk! This video makes an excellent preview of what to expect from the 900 series. Both generations look practically the same size, aside from the bigger (and helluva lot better) screen. If you say is true, though, the XP version will come out with 12GB storage, right? Or, is there still an 8GB model? Just curious, since it should jack up the price tag. Thanks for the post!
What about the linux version?
I think people should have a choice for a pre-instaled ubuntu 8.04 version and see an equivalent price comparison of the whole package value (software + hardware including Offices, storage space, etc;)
Since this is not a gamer's computer, I'm sure Micro$oft would lose this battle...
It's good to know that the SSD is removable and toggling power saving mode on/off is great too. I'm looking forward to the 900 and I sure hope that a black version will be available at release.
You definitely deserve an eee 900 pc from Asus free, you gave all of us an end to info and picture/video searches and keeping our interest going on getting one of those, probably if not the best pc product for a long time now. Thank you Jkk from all the fans out there (still dreaming the touch screen version), for mining all these information.
Keep it real brother, and thank you ones more.
I think I'm going to wait and see what Dell will offer in this device space. After seeing what HP put together, I think it may be quite good. The HP Mininote's large keyboard and PCExpress slot are attracting me, but the glossy screen and battery life are deal breakers.
If only they wouldn't advertise the windows version in this video preview... it just doesn't fit into the white design of the asus eee pc...
jkk, can you confirm for us - does this version not include a PCI Express slot...
I was hoping that it would so I could try the HSDPA card that Asus have just launched...the T500 PCI Express card...
thanks,
Philip
Philip,
No Express Card slot.
such a shame...
Well, I guess I'll be buying a modded one from the guys on the eeeuser site forums, or waiting for an MSI Wind ... unless the Atom version has better options
Thanks anyway
Philip
