ssd comes with 8G model...
..nothing to do with my stuffings :)

So -- it seems the SSD space from the 4G is wasted, and we burn the PCIe slot for the memory? So the machine is less upgradeable? Pardon me if this seems like a dim comment...

as new 4g models don't have that second pci-e connector anymore, this 8G model is actually more upgradeable...

... u could upgrade that 8gb ssd with 16gb when they come available.

Ah -- that's a second one... Got it. Thanks! But I guess then the original 4G was the most upgradable -- builtin memory, and two slots.

Oh, no, wrong again, because of this...

"Inserting a Novatel mini PCIe EVDO modem into the empty mini PCIe card slot disabled the built-in SSD".

Too bad we can't use the on-board and the slot at the same time...

if i understand the eeeuser forum correctly, it seems that if something makes use of the 3.3v line for the pci-e bus connector, the eee will disable the 4G storage area.

there are people that have taken the 8G and hooked it into the early 4G model, getting two drives in the bios and linux.

asus is making this very very foggy...

what if you take the 3.3v from some where eles would the not stop it from disabling the 4G storage area
